| Acrylic gouache on board. The Thran Mana Rig, in all its glory. I didn't know where to put the crystal that would emanate a magical energy screen, so I put it on top of the "Mana Flare Stack", revealing an opening top. The whole city is designed to convert heat energy from lava in the volcanic caldera below, into more useful mana-charged powerstones. The fact that the crystal is glowing greenish and not red was more of an artistic decision than a story-based one. The city was already covered in red rust and I wanted the beams to stand out in the final art. The concept art for the Rig can be found here. | |||
